Forgive Me...

  • Sep. 5th, 2009 at 9:50 PM

It's been a while. I've been very busy with flickr that I totally neglected sharing my thoughts with you.
It's Saturday. usually I work at the clinics saturdays. I am a school- based therapist and I do miss rehab setting. The hospital, adult patients and clinical services with the more severe cases of autism.

How are you guys doing?
I have been following this young man @ Youtube for the longest time. And his voice reverberates to my soul. I love Otan Vargas!

Writer's Block

  • Aug. 19th, 2009 at 1:11 PM

I haven't blogged lately
It was hard to say goodbye to my friendster blog either.
But I've been really busy doing nothing.
I actually felt more busy now that I'm not working.

Boredom strikes me again.

Would you tell her I love her...

  • Aug. 5th, 2009 at 11:50 PM

My lola (grannie) has been in and out of the hospital lately. She was initially diagnosed to have Tuberculosis was given prescriptions for TB. After a month of medication, she is now diagnosed to have an enlargement of the heart. She  is old. Her body is frail.

I grew up with her. During my youth, I only got to see my mom every weekends and my dad once a year.
She was a mother to them who have always told us that she was not a good parent. That she chose a life of comfort by remarrying instead of taking care of her children. She chose to go back to the philippines and gave up her life here in the US. And the sad truth is she was always blamed by her children. They were all bitter about the life she chose to live.

but they all failed to see how she tried to make up for the all the mistakes and decisions she did by taking care of her grandchildren, By teaching us the lessons of her life. That in their absence, she was  and has always been the hands who held us when our parents were away to work. She was the one who provided us with shelter and love.

I really wanna go back home and see her. Telephone conversations are even more difficult because she can no longer hear.

BLEEDING

  • Aug. 4th, 2009 at 2:53 AM

JARED: Mama, Look the pillow is bleeding

(We had a party the night before so one guest I think made a stain on my couch pillow)

the Beautiful momma: huh? where? what happened?

JARED: Because I scratched it.

(Just because I always remind him not to scratch his skin when itchy as it will cause "sugat and dugo")

No Need to ARGUE

  • Jul. 29th, 2009 at 1:01 AM

No Need to ARGUE, originally uploaded by ~Hayopsaganda~.

I don't really enjoy any argument. Nobody wins in it. I never nag. It's pointless.

I guess this is what is lacking in my relationships. I never argued about anything to the point that it seemed like I don't care at all.

But really, what would you gain? you exert all your energy, you compromise your silence in something you really cannot settle. Just because, we are all entitled to what we believe in. Our opinion matters to ourselves but not to others. It may. But in the end, One would still rely on what he/she wants, he/she needs, his/ her instincts. And we are all entitled to that too.

Ok. I retreat. I am confusing myself. I don't get my point either. :)

Meet Jared and his "Tata".

EVERY CHILD NEEDS A FATHER...

A father can be any one who puts one child's needs ahead of his own. One can produce a child but never be a dad. One may have 20 kids and still never be a dad. It doesn't have to be biological. It takes a great man to be a father and raise a child ~ DNIZ

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail...

It's Jared's birthday on the 30th. They have a date.

YOU are tagged

YOU are tagged, originally uploaded by ~Hayopsaganda~.

This is very special to me, my 4- year old took this using my phone.

This is how it goes. List 10 things that your friends may or may not know about you, but that are true. Tag ten people and be sure to let them know they’ve been tagged (a quick message will do). Don’t forget to link back to the person who tagged you. Post a picture in your stream with the 10 facts and list your tagged people :)

::1:: I am very cynical about the concept of "love"

::2:: I loooove Thai Iced Tea

::3:: In photography, I don't like to "capture" images but rather, I am more interested in the art of giving life to the subjects (naks, lalim)

::4:: I have a "green thumb"

::5:: I always keep a mini flashlight in my bag (though there is no electric black- out here)

::6:: I collect pens

::7:: I try to sleep @ least 4 hours/day. It's hard to juggle my schedule bet full- time job, being a single parent, studying post- baccalaureate

::8:: I do miss sleeping more than 7 hours

::9:: I have more male friends than female friends

::10::It's my son's birthday on July 30th and we got free tickets to DISNEYLAND California Adventure Park!!!!

X

  • Jul. 28th, 2009 at 12:39 AM

Dear [girlfriend of my X(15 years ago)],

It's been a while since you first stalked me.
I am not your enemy.
I am never in contact with your boyfriend, he's all yours.
Jealousy poisons your mind, don't let it control you.
I pity you but I abhor the messages I've been getting from you.

READ this...
Just please stop. Don't get me started on intentionally offending you because you are not going to like it.

Dear X- boyfriend(14 years ago),

I tried so hard to ignore that freaky girlfriend of yours.
Please...We are too old for this. I don't understand why me of all people, she'd get jealous with.
She is a psycho and you are a saint for putting up with this. I don't even know where in the world you are now and I don't even visit your facebook. For all I care.

Gosh, why is Hayopsaganda always a target of jealous girlfriends?

I learned to be a superwoman

  • Jul. 26th, 2009 at 7:47 AM

Photobucket
(and yes, their freeways ("expressways"in the Pinas) have 6 lanes and I violated the law for taking this picture while driving 75 miles/hr, did I???)

It's been almost 5 years since I migrated here in the US and my zealous want of pursuing my studies and of course to explore my field  in another country has made me leave a life of comfort in the Philippines. And these are the things I discovered and learned...

...to commute and transfer from 3 train rides (the heck! and this was during the last 3 months of my pregnancy which helped me exercise too coz I had to walk blocks to the bus stop
...I learned that when you boil veggies and meat, they will not cook on their own (wohooo!, and yes, I do admit that I grew up with household helpers for cooking, laundry and cleaning the house), and this is after a year of vienna sausage, corned beef and microwaveable Lean Cuisine and pizza delivery.
...to drive and be lazy ( I used to wake up at 5 am because of my public transpo commute but now I always sneak in to work, I am always 1 hour late, considering that I live close to work ~ and this is because I drive)
...the difference between slow cooker, rice cooker and pressure cooker~ everything looked the same to me before
...several techniques to change my son's diaper in public places.
...diaper bins really have to be covered (or else, you are giving yourself a nightmare of the nasty scent)
...dishwashers are not really effective and that when foam dishwashers aren't either. Scotchbrite works well and that Joy is the best to use to take away the oil in your Glad take- alongs. And no, Dawn is pretty perfect if you want to play with bubbles but not to make your plates squeaky enough.
...If I park my car at the gas station, I'll be waiting until midnight but no one will approach you to ask how much I want on my tank
... speaking of gas, I discovered that Gas stations will charge you only  a dollar for the the first few days on your card and chrage the entire amount 5 days later ( I don't know why, can somebody explain why?)
...7- Eleven's are not really in every corner in every hour
...credit card bills do not wipe out on their own nor do they get paid by someone else for you
...when you thought you have closed your car door, you need to double- check because during lunch time, you will never be able to go anywhere and your car needs to be towed because you've drained your battery for leaving the door ajar
...you can actually wear jewelry, leave your bag in your car without worries of pickpockets, snatchers and ~ learned that when you lose your things, either you go back where you left then (they'd still be in the same spot you left of or they'd be at the lost and found)
...it is really acceptable to wear running shoes with your trousers (fashion kill!)
...Los angeles has more homeless people
...Condos are not necessarily huge buildings
...community pools' waters only gets replaced once a year (ewww?)
..."community" means not your entire baranggay but the people who live in your apartment/ condo complex
...you don't walk it off when they say "Oh, it's near it's just a block away from here"
...Quarters are very very important coins
...not all bermuda grass you see are genuine, sometimes they're plastic!
...community parks have gyms and you don't need membership
...red oval tracks at the parks are not for school sports- fest. They are used by the public for walking, runners are on the inner side, and bikes are not allowed. Strollers stay on the right side (hahahaha)
...you really have to look around while driving in the Los Feliz area because how knows, Ben Affleck is probably driving right beside you!
...they don't really shoot their movies in HOLLYWOOD
...you car won't "EJECT" you when it's beeping (you need to put that Dang seatbelt on!!!)
...yogurt straws have extensions (as in they extend)
...Malls are not as huge as the ones we have in the Philippines (so when they say "let's go shopping" that means you will be walking in a complex from stores to stores and not inside a single building) They do have malls but they're the size of supermarkets in the P.I.
...EL Pollo Loco is not really an expensive restaurant (like the ones we have in P.I), it's like McDo here
...and McDonald's don't serve spaghetti meal or fried chicken okay? and yes, no rice!
...KFC does serve chicken but they don't give you gravy for free.
...you literally CALL for a cab (they don't roam around like in P.I. or NY) so dial 1- 800- TAXI4ME PLEASEEEE?
...sort your trash
...withdrawal from other bank's atm will cost you a total of $7
...people don't really use cash. It's either you swipe or you write (your check)
...CHECKING account is for everybody, you don't have to have Php20,000.
...you have to memorize your social security number and have to have your State ID card with you ALWAYS

And the list goes on. I learned to be more independent and I have been on my own for almost 5 years now and raising my son. Migrating to the US have cost me money, comfort of living with my family, love, and tears but then had I never done this, I wouldn't have come to know my family's strengths more, who my real friends are and most of all, I wouldn't have discovered that I can do things and I can survive America on my own.
